WHICH IS WHY I'M LOOKING FORWARD RATHER THAN BACK.... TO A NEW FELT YEAR... AND SOME NEW (rather experimental but equally woolly!) PROJECTS ...
"Bags & Roses"
(as opposed to Guns n' Roses!)
I haven't hemmed the bag opening yet so it looks a bit uneven and ragged at the moment!
Any project involving a large expanse of uninterrupted felt I tend to go to town on with colour and fibre effects - a little bit of this roving and a little bit of that. It's an opportunity to use up some of the millions of off-cuts I get from old felt projects. If you have any fluffy rather dog-eared "bits" left over, rest assured, they are indeed feltable. And sometimes you can peel felt layers apart or re-card them. If you're an experienced felt recycler you will always be able to salvage wool - in fact, wool can be re-felted time and time again...the colours get a bit muddy after a while though.
And, roses (brooches to be precise) because, well, next month is February and I'm hoping St Valentine will be setting some hearts a-fluttering....!! I'm thinking of something along the lines of those poppy brooches I made last November (i.e with leaves and stem) but this time I'm felting two tiers of petals which means pre-felting one large set and one small set then felting the two together although I might find myself using the felting needle as a back-up!
These are works in progress, folk - bit rough and ready but some potential there I think...watch this space...
