Now I’ve been working on this picture for quite a while. I’d put it away and come back to it (seeing your work with fresh eyes is so important) and I realised there was too much in it, my eyes couldn’t find a #pointoffocus. The fuschia pink flowers in the foreground (which are now yellowy-white) and the bird of prey on the log (now no more!) were distracting me from the landscape, my main inspiration. This is, alas, a bad habit of mine, adding too many details, rather like my tendency to add too many words to my sentences in A-Level English essays! So, as you can see, I’ve made some changes – no falcon, and a paler, lighter choice of flower. It may change again in the next few days, let’s wait and see!
